On-Farm Instructor Course

Become qualified to train Farmer Assistants on your farm.  Participate in an On-Farm Instructor Course.

We offer a half-day On-Farm Instructor Course for Certified Farmers who want to become qualified to train their Farmer Assistants.

  • You must have a valid Grower Pesticide Safety Course certificate to attend this course.
  • The course fee is $65.
  • You must renew your On-Farm Instructor Course qualification every five years.

When you participate in the On-Farm Instructor Course, you'll learn how to train Farmer Assistants in the principles and practices of pesticide safety.  Also you will receive a kit of training materials and supplies.

After you train a Farmer Assistant, you must complete the "Record of Pesticide Safety Training" form.  Send the "Record of Pesticide Safety Training" form, along with $25, to the Ontario Pesticide Education Program.  We will keep a record that the Farmer Assistant is trained and issue a training card to the Farmer Assistant.  You must retrain your Farmer Assistants every five years.

The University of Guelph is committed to making its learning, living and work environments accessible and welcoming. In 2005, the province introduced the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), which seeks to ensure a fully accessible Ontario by 2025. This law moves from the concept of accommodation, where we make alterations on a per-person basis depending on that person’s disability, to one of accessibility where process, procedures, and policies are designed to improve access to the University’s people, goods and services.
